In This article, I will be talking about Dry Skin which is a common medical problem of the skin. Dry Skin occurs when the topmost layer of our skin which is called the Epidermis loses its ability to retain water/moisture inside itself, So basically it has a reduced capacity to store natural moisture. This causes the natural water moisture in our skin to evaporate fast thus causing the skin to dry out

Dry skin occurs in men women, the elderly, the young, as well as in children. Dry Skin can also be a genetic problem due to which an entire family may suffer from a dry skin condition, these people who have a deficit of Thyroid Hormone which is known as Hypothyroidism As well as people who have Atopic Dermatitis or Eczema and also people who suffer from Psoriasis These people are usually more prone to dry skin.

People who suffer from Kidney problems also usually have dry skin. people who suffer from a lot of Acne/Pimples and thus use Vitamin A or Vitamin A derivatives which are basically medicines such as Isotretinoin also, tend to suffer from Dry Skin.

Many times people use Diuretic medicine to control their Blood Pressure which removes water from the body thus leaving the skin dry, As our age progresses the number of Oil Glands in our skin progressively reduces That is why our skin begins to get thin It also begins to lose its ability to retain natural moisture/water and due to these reasons, as we age our skin starts remaining dry or simply dries out, Also, people who consume a lot of Coffee, Cigarettes, and Alcohol also, have dry skin due to dehydration.

There are environmental factors also which cause dry skin such as the cold, dry air during the winter months and a habit of bathing for long periods in hot water Another reason is always staying in air-conditioned rooms during the summer months and spending a lot of time in rooms with heaters during the winters.

People who often swim in swimming pools with chlorinated water can also suffer from severe dry skin. when the skin becomes too dry and begins to crack then it can develop bacterial infections as well such as the kind which often happens in winter to peoples' heels, causing them to crack.

When skin becomes dry it starts developing fine lines and wrinkles easily and at an early age which causes people to start looking aged in their youth itself.

However, there is good news for people with Oily Skin types, despite the fact that oily skin can result in many problems they will seldom suffer from the problems of wrinkles and fine lines.

Treatment of Dry Skin

If you are suffering from Dry Skin then please do as I am telling you to do and you will be able to protect your skin from getting dry and also keep it soft, smooth, and glowing

First of all, we must not let there be a deficiency of water in our system that is why, even during winter, you must at least consume 2 liters of water during the day.

Dry skin usually occurs more in those people who scrub their skin daily with a strong soap and use hot water for bathing Soap basically washes away the layer of protective oil that our skin produces naturally and leaves our skin dry and unprotected.

Nowadays, there are Nylon "Loofahs" available in the market to scrub your skin which people use to scrub their skin, after applying soap to it They think that this will clean their skin But actually, this causes our skin to dry out, even more, In actual fact, just bathing with plain water cleans upto 85% of the skin.

For the neck, underarms, and private parts can be cleaned daily with Pears Soap, or Cetaphil Non-Soap Cleanser.

However, the face, arms, legs, back, and frontal area do not require a daily wash with soap People who have dry skin should avoid putting Toners on their face and also avoid using any kind of scrubs.

Toners contain alcohol which pretty much removes all the natural oil from the skin and scrubs cause abrasions on dry skin. If you apply natural oils, creams, and moisturizers on your skin then it benefits your skin. In fact, the more regularly you apply these on dry skin, the better it is.

Those who suffer from the problem of dry skin should, before going to bed at night apply it on their face, as well as hands and legs Vaseline or Cetaphil Moisturising Cream Or even Virgin Coconut Oil could be used You should use either one of these to massage your skin well, before sleeping then the skin will become very soft and supple

Applying oils or moisturizers at night before sleeping allows them to properly hydrate skin as well as heal skin in the most effective manner thus improving the condition of the skin a lot.

During day time immediately after having a bath when the skin is still moist is the best time to apply a good cream or moisturizer because the moisture trapped in the skin after bathing is not allowed to evaporate easily thus keeping the skin soft.

People who suffer from very dry skin should at all times keep their bodies covered with good-quality cotton clothes and they should protect their skin from the sun, as well as wind exposure. Even during winter, you should wear cotton liners under your winter clothes because if woolen material is in direct contact with the skin then it causes the skin to dry out, and also causes irritation of the skin.

You should also never use a lot of washing powder or detergent to clean your laundry you must also avoid using scents, as well as fabric softeners, and also bleaching agents while doing your laundry because the chemicals contained in these products irritate dry skin and also dry it out more.

During winter months use a humidifier in the rooms or you could also just fill a big bowl with water and keep it in your room which naturally keeps the moisture levels balanced in the air, and prevents our skin from drying out.

This will ensure that your skin will not get wet repeatedly, and thus automatically reduce the drying out of your skin

Some Good Products To Prevent Dry Skin

Now I will tell you about some products which not only moisturize the skin but also suit all skin types These are some creams and lotions

*the best, the cheapest, and the most effective is Virgin Coconut Oil

So, virgin basically means Pure Oil which has been extracted by cold-pressing coconuts is not made by any chemical process, and neither is it heat treated Oil that is extracted in this manner ensures that all its beneficial properties are intact and thus this oil is automatically more effective. This kind of oil also carries a minimal scent you can use this in summer or winter or any other season, on oily or dry, or any type of skin. If this Virgin Coconut oil is applied to your skin during the daytime and night then chances are that your skin will seldom suffer from any problems whatsoever As for those people who do not like using oil they can use a soothing Petroleum Jelly such as Vaseline or they can also use a Moisturising Cream such as Cetaphil Moisturising Cream OR they can also use Vaseline Lotion, which is nonscented and does not contain any artificial color.

You must be aware of one thing all the high-end and sophisticated creams have almost nil added scents/fragrances because the added fragrances to Creams, Lotions, Makeup products, etc can often cause allergies in people and make the skin very sensitive to sunlight besides also causing dryness, redness and burning in the skin.

that is why, whenever you purchase a cream, lotion, makeup product, or moisturizer you must make sure it is of good company and contains little to no added fragrances or colors.
